The Indonesia Masters is a HSBC BWF World Tour Super 500 tournament and is one of only seven Super 500 level tournaments. Held since 2010 as a Grand Prix Gold level tournament of the BWF tournament structure at the time, it has been hosted in different cities including East Kalimantan, Palembang, Yogyakarta and East Java.
The tournament is one of two HSBC BWF World Tour tournaments hosted in Indonesia with the other being the Indonesia Open, a HSBC BWF World Tour Super 1000 tournament.
Taufik Hidayat won the first edition of the Indonesia Masters men’s single event in 2010 together with his compatriots Mohammad Ahsan and Bona Septano who won the men’s doubles, and Tontowi Hamad and Lilyana Natsir won the mixed doubles titles in the same year. Tontowi Ahmad and Lilyana Natsir won the mixed doubles titles again in 2012 and 2015.
