Barcelona Spain Masters 2018 History & Historical Results

The Spanish Open is a HSBC BWF World Tour Super 300 tournament and is one of 11 Super 300 level tournaments on the Tour. The Spanish Open has been hosted since 1974 as an International Challenge level tournament of the BWF tournament structure at the time.  

Since its establishment, the Spanish Open has been hosted in Madrid and it is one of the new tournaments entering this level for the HSBC BWF World Tour in 2018. The tournament will be hosted in Granada in 2018.  

The Spanish Open is an opportunity to showcase home grown talent with local heroes reaching the podium in past Spanish Opens. Pablo Abian won the 2015 men’s singles title and in 2013, Beatriz Corrales won the women’s singles title. In 2011, Carolina Marin, the Rio Olympic Champion won the women’s single title.
