YONEX German Open 2018 History & Historical Results

The German Open is a HSBC BWF World Tour Super 300 tournament and is one of 11 Super 300 level tournaments on the Tour.

Hosted since 1955 the tournament was known as the International German Badminton Championships and was hosted initially in Bonn, two years after the German Badminton Association (DBV) was founded.

In 1981 the International German Badminton Championships became an “Open” tournament because prize money of US$ 20,000 was more than amateurs were allowed to earn at that time.

From 2005 to 2010 prize money was $80.000 and from 2011 to 2018 $120.000 was offered.

A popular international tournament on the Tour, the German Open in 2018 will take place for the 20th time in Mülheim an der Ruhr.
