VICTOR Korea Open 2018 History & Historical Results

The Korea Open is a HSBC BWF World Tour Super 500 tournament. The Korea Open is one of only seven Super 500 tournaments on the Tour, with the others being hosted in Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand.    

Held since 1991 as an international badminton competition, and in 2007, the tournament became part of the BWF World Superseries level tournament of the BWF structure at the time and the first nine editions of this were hosted in Seoul.  

Previously the tournament has been hosted in a wide range of cities and locations including Jeju Island, Yeosu, Incheon, Chungju, Seongnam and Seoul.  

The tournament is a popular international tournament and a really great opportunity to showcase the sport in Korea with home grown heroes reaching the podium. Korean players have reached the podium including Ra Kyung-min winning both men’s and mixed doubles. Lee Yong-dae has six titles in men’s and mixed doubles since 2008.
